Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The University of Maryland, College Park, one of the nation’s premier research universities, seeks a Project Manager to lead strategic and operational initiatives, programs, and projects within the Division of Administration.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Administrative Services, the successful candidate provides project leadership on complex and challenging initiatives. Examples of initiatives include managing the impacts of major construction projects on campus operations; business process development and improvement; development and deployment of new systems; strategic planning; project management; and organizational improvement.

The Project Manager is responsible for optimizing and documenting project plans; coordinating and sequencing tasks for a multi-faceted team; aligning activities within budgets; and tracking and maintaining timelines and the overall efficiency of projects from beginning to end.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education (include licenses, certification, etc.):
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience:
At least 4 years of professional project management experience with demonstrated experience leading and directing business and operational projects/programs.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
  • Proven ability to multitask, analyze situations, develop plans, and ensure successful and efficient implementation of processes and ability to work independently on complex projects
  • Demonstrated skills in computer applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint or Google Suite equivalents

Preferences:

Preferences:
  • Experience within a higher education environment is preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.
  • Experience working in proximity with executive leadership; and experience creating, synthesizing, and presenting executive level objectives, metrics, and goals to executives is preferred.
  • Experience working on or managing construction projects is preferred.

Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. The position requires attending and facilitating meetings, on and off campus, which may require walking or driving.
