Job Description

We are currently seeking a Director to be a part of the Workforce and Technology Initiatives team who will advance the institution’s proud tradition of excellence in academics, student life and community service.  Come be a part of the Mosaic of HCC.

Job Summary

Provide leadership and support to the Dean COE and Executive Director of Workforce Technology in the planning and implementation of cross-discipline technology learning projects, innovation labs across the district, and the successful implementation of all Workforce Development initiatives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Support the Dean COE in the development of grant technology proposals and manage district-wide technology based workforce development grant projects ensuring compliance implementation and district-wide collaborations for the success of the designated projects.

Support the coordination of Technology Labs across the district to ensure all instructional COE DIT labs are consistent across the district and meet COE standards, including maintaining labs equipment inventory and insuring lab equipment safety standards are implemented at the various locations.  Provide recommendations regarding instructional technology, facilitation, and collaboration.

Collaborate and coordinate with HCC District IT, Campus Operations, Procurement Office, and the Executive Director of Workforce Technology as appropriate on plans and progress involving faculty and student involvement, participation, student persistence, and completion, and if appropriate, accreditation status and licensure rates.

Supervise the COE DIT Technology staff to ensure COE DIT labs inventory of equipment district-wide is current, meets safety guidelines, and all software is up to date in support of instructional needs for the various locations.

Prepare an annual projected budget report on related COE DIT programs technology needs, equipment, facilities in support of budget planning and Perkins funds requests for the following academic year.

Facilitate team building and consensus.

Facilitate professional development and application of new learner-centered teaching strategies, innovative curricula, and quality instructional materials.

Provide instructional leadership for assigned programs and work with dean, directors, and chairs.

Work collaboratively with all program personnel to provide active and collaborative learning activities for students that enhance the educational experience, employment, and transfer opportunities.

Review all workforce Program Reviews and Annual Planning Reports, completed by Program Coordinators to identify any technology needs and recommendations for improvement to the AVC Workforce and budget planning process.

Support grant and fundraising development proposals in coordination with the Grants Office to maintain the standards required in the field and deepen partnerships in the industry.

Serve on College and District committees as appropriate.

Perform other duties, tasks and assignments as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • 5 years work experience in information technology related project management required            

Licensing & Certification

  • Valid Texas Driver License
  • Project Management Certification preferred

Working Conditions

General Office.  Must be able to perform all job requirements with or without reasonable accommodations; remain in a stationary position during shift; move items weighing up to 25 pounds; position self to operate job equipment; apply established protocols in a timely manner.  Must access, input and retrieve information from technology devices; communicate with others to accomplish job requirements.  May be required to work after hours to include weekends and holidays.
