Full Job Description
The Director, Athletics and Student Engagement, will provide leadership and coordination for all student-related activities for all Clark State locations. This includes intercollegiate athletics, recreational programs, and the College Wellness Center. Additionally, this position will coordinate all student activities and leadership programs including clubs and organizations. The Director will ensure athletic and student life programs are compliant with all applicable Clark State, local, state, and national governing regulations, directives, and guidance.

DIMENSIONS
This position is responsible for creating and managing the budgets for the athletic and student life areas.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Head coaches, assistant coaches, contracted athletic trainers, student workers, student senators, and student ambassadors.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred in higher education administration/student affairs, sports management, or related field.
- Three years’ experience with athletic, recreation and/or wellness programs preferred.
- At least one year of experience with student activities and or leadership development preferred.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Executive management skills including strong organizational skills, human relations skills, and customer service skills; ability to motivate employees and work in a team-centered environment
- Competence in strategic planning
- Ability to manage complex tasks simultaneously; strong analytical, problem-solving and counseling skills
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Commitment to student development theory and practice
- Proven effective grant-writing skills
- Good presentation skills
- The ability to implement a trauma informed culture of care for staff and students
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- First-aid and CPR training preferred
- Valid State of Ohio driver’s license
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work is performed in an office-like environment with a moderate amount of noise.
