Job Description
Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC), located in Reno, Nevada is seeking applicants for a Associate Dean of Library and Online Instruction.
 
This position manages the Elizabeth Sturm Library, the Tutoring Center, and the WebCollege & Academic Support Center, which reside in TMCC's Learning Commons (LC). The Associate Dean works closely with faculty and academic leadership to develop and refine LC services that support the academic mission, contribute to retention, and advance student success. The Associate Dean leads and supervises several direct-reports charged with program planning, implementation, and progress reporting. This position regularly updates the VPAA and academic leadership with LC performance data, and works with Institutional Research and Budget to develop and refine data on program performance and budgets. The Associate Dean actively promotes LC programs throughout the college in order to maximize their use and impact, and regularly weighs program and resource usage to align funds most effectively. Teaches one course per year.
 
Minimum Qualifications
1. Master's degree from accredited institution
2. 3 years of experience in higher education
  • 2 years of which need to be in a supervisory/management level
3. Demonstrated strength in collaborative leadership management
4. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
 
Responsibilities
Working with leadership and staff the learning commons director will:
  • Lead all Learning Commons (LC) operations and supervise the Library, Tutoring, and WebCollege teams.
  • Provide vision and leadership of WebCollege to promote innovation, accessibility, and high eLearning standards.
  • Analyze and report data on LC resources, services, impacts, and budgets in support of TMCC's strategic plan goals.
  • Create an engaging, innovative environment that is attractive to students and conducive to teaching and learning.
  • Promote P.D. for LC teams, oversee training for student workers, and respond promptly to staff/student concerns.
  • Identify and pursue grants and support programs to develop and enhance LC services and operations.
  • Teach one course per year as part of contracted duties.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of: The Community College mission, TMCC's academic and strategic plans, college pedagogy, instructional technologies, online teaching best practices, information literacy, OER, ADA accessibility, and copyright laws.
Experience: supervision, leadership, collegiate instruction, budgeting, fiscal management, and team-building Communication: strong written and verbal communication skills that foster collaboration and trust among stakeholders.
Time-Management: ability to track multiple projects, deadlines, and emerging issues.
Detail-Oriented: capacity to monitor, evaluate, and report on details across multiple projects and outreach activities.
Leadership: ability to broker consensus and promote collaboration among employee teams in pursuit of strategic goals.
Self-starter: excel at working autonomously and meeting project deadlines and deliverables.
 
Salary and Benefits Information:
Salary: $91,244 - $114,055, Initial salary placement will be dependent on education level and years of experience.
