POSITION

The Manager of Internal Communications & Executive Support is critical to successful operations at Leading Educators. This role leads operations and logistical support for org-wide communications and collaboration while also providing essential administrative support to the Chief Impact Officer and Leadership and Extended Leadership Teams.

The Manager of Internal Communications & Executive Support is a highly motivated individual that enjoys serving as a key operator within the organization. This professional is extremely organized and detail-oriented, with a keen eye for developing efficient systems. This person plays a key role in being a proactive problem solver, critically thinking about future needs and solutions. This person enjoys writing and is able to collect, organize, and synthesize information into clear and compelling writing. A successful candidate thrives in a fast-paced work environment, working in collaboration with Chiefs and cross-team teammates around internal systems. This team member will have strong communication skills and comfort navigating new technology to seamlessly manage busy schedules and collaboration systems.

The Manager of Internal Communications & Executive Support will gain unique experience in nonprofit leadership support and strategy and the chance to collaborate and work with leaders across the organization in all functions. Leading Educators is a rapidly growing organization, and this position offers a chance to build a deep understanding of education reform, non-profit structure and management, and executive leadership team responsibilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Communications (40%)

  • Write drafts of internal and external communications, chief communication, org-wide messaging, and Buzz content; ensure that final products are clear, values-aligned, accurate, and error-free (e.g., minimal grammatical errors, misspellings, etc.)

  • Own the drafting and sending of Leading Educators’ weekly Buzz newsletter, including drafting content, leading coordination with contributors, and reviewing ongoing data to inform improvements

  • Support colleagues in revising draft communications by copy-editing and reviewing final content for quality (e.g., clarity, values-alignment, and accuracy)

  • Track data, synthesize results, and report trends from feedback sources (e.g., event/meeting surveys, org-wide surveys, interviews, analytics, time tracking, and more) to identify successes, opportunities for improvement, action steps, and follow-up communication opportunities for org-wide, Leadership, and Extended Leadership Team work

Operations for Org-Wide Collaboration and Retreats (40%)

  • Create and lead the ongoing maintenance of systems, tools, and norms to support transparent, efficient, and impactful collaboration on the Leadership and Extended Leadership Teams, in partnership with the Chief Impact Officer (includes maintaining the calendar, agenda items, time tracking, and reporting of progress toward milestones)

  • Lead operational planning and execution of annual org-wide retreat, including chairing cross-team planning committee, collaborating with internal and external co-planners, supporting session facilitators, and managing venue, catering, A/V equipment, and transportation

  • Lead operations, communications, and maintenance of the calendar for org-wide collaboration spaces, including monthly Connections calls, Ask Me Anything calls, collaboration blocks, campfires, etc.; support colleagues in scheduling org-wide events

  • Facilitate monthly Ask Me Anything calls featuring a variety of leaders from across the organization

  • Lead operational planning for quarterly Leadership Team retreats and bi-annual Extended Leadership Team retreats

  • Serve as the primary interface for event and logistics staff at live venues, troubleshooting issues, ensuring positive relation, and effective execution

  • Provide advanced and live support for remote and live meetings, including operations, tech support, problem solving, breakout rooms, document sharing, and support for live and virtual collaboration tools

Executive Support, Collaboration, and Special Projects (20%)

  • Perform routine administrative duties as needed, including scheduling travel and appointments, planning and preparing materials for meetings and special events, and reconciling expenses

  • Builds authentic and trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders; collaborates with team members to generate and improve ideas, invest others, and solve problems

  • Meet regularly with chief(s) to discuss and creatively solve problems about upcoming projects or org-wide initiatives

  • Work with other Executive Assistants to ensure alignment and impact of the Leadership Team’s work

  • Assist in the project planning and execution of special projects and events, as needed

REQUIREMENTS TO BE HIRED FOR THE ROLE:

  • Leading Educators requires that all employees are fully vaccinated (includes a booster dose at least 5 months after the last dose in the primary series) against COVID-19, unless an accommodation has been approved. New hires must show proof of being fully vaccinated by the end of the first month of employment.

  • Candidates must be able to travel nationally up to 25% for org-wide and leadership retreats, programming or professional development, unless an accommodation has been approved.

LOCATION

When not traveling for org-wide retreats, Leadership/Extended Leadership Team retreats, programming and professional development up to 25% of the time, the Manager of Internal Communications & Executive Support will work from a home office that can be located anywhere in the US.

COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements and Travel

Leading Educators lives our value of prioritizing people, and puts the safety of our partners, our students, and our staff first. We know that in order for students to receive excellent and equitable education every day, their health and wellbeing must be prioritized. As of January 31st, 2022, Leading Educators requires that all employees are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, unless an accommodation has been approved. We define fully vaccinated as a booster dose at least 5 months after the primary dose in the primary series. Business travel and in-person work is considered required for every role, although the frequency of business travel and in-person work will vary across teams and roles. Leading Educators will comply with applicable federal and state laws, as well as EEOC Guidance and will consider any requests for accommodations for medical, religious or as otherwise required by applicable law. New hires must show proof of being fully vaccinated by the end of the first month of employment.

COMPENSATION

If hired for this position, the compensation range for this position is between $62,658 and $88,779 annually. Compensation is competitive, commensurate with experience and in alignment with internal equity. Candidates, either newly hired or new to the role, can typically expect a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role. In addition, Leading Educators offers a very generous benefits package including 100% paid medical, dental, and vision coverage for individual employees. Additional premium costs are covered 60% by Leading Educators for partners and dependents on medical, dental, and vision plans. We also offer a 4% matching 401k plan, Flexible Spending Accounts for medical, childcare and commuter expenses, and an Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Benefits are valued at or above $9,000 for employees.

Additionally, Leading Educators offers generous time off with pay in order to support a sustainable high performance work culture. During the first three years of employment, full time staff accrue 22 days a year. Five additional days are accrued after the third and sixth year of employment. Leading Educators also offers 16 additional paid days off for various holidays, including three floating holidays staff may use at their discretion.
