Summary

Nexus manages the development and delivery of continuing, professional, and online education programs from the College of Engineering and supports professional education and workforce development opportunities for learners worldwide. We are currently seeking a team-oriented Online Degree Programs Manager.

You will have demonstrated experience managing the systems and procedures that support the approval, launch and maintenance of online degree programs in a higher education environment. This role requires strong analytical, leadership, organizational, time management skills, and an ability to work effectively in a matrixed team environment.

Under the direction of the Director of Student Affairs and Faculty Relations, you will be responsible for managing Nexus’ online degree programs portfolio. To successfully launch and maintain online degree programs, you will develop and maintain strong working partnerships with faculty and staff to manage business processes and workflows, coordinate stakeholders, monitor project progress, elevate efficiencies, prioritize student outcomes and ensure project tasks are completed in a timely manner and within budget. We operate in a hybrid work environment consisting of both in-person and remote work. You will have the opportunity for flexibility for a blend of working from home and also working on campus as needed for meetings and events.

Responsibilities*

Program Management & Stakeholder Coordination (70%)

  • Function as Nexus’ program lead for the development and maintenance of online degree programs.
  • Manage project queue that includes program priority, linkage to dependent resources, and relevant project details.
  • Develop and manage project charters, task lists, project plans, communication plans, and project schedules.
  • Assemble and lead program teams with a diverse set of stakeholders;
  • Oversee project progress to ensure timely task completion and coordination. 
  • Facilitate the coordination of program stakeholders, specifically in areas related to online degree program strategy, project workflow, and roles.
  • Liaise with team leads to ensure functional groups are coordinated effectively. 
  • Communicate as needed with stakeholders regarding blocking issues, risks, project needs, and goals.

Reporting & Documentation (25%)

  • Document project progress using appropriate report templates.
  • Draft and share new process documents that support continuous improvement.
  • Create monthly, quarterly and annual reports that detail project status and needed interventions.
  • Review and refine project goals to ensure the project goals using appropriate metrics to ensure expectations and hoped-for outcomes, timelines, and resourcing are achievable and clearly defined.

Professional Development (5%)

  • Participate in professional development activities in the practice of project and portfolio management; research and recommend project management policies, principles, and practices.
  • Monitor innovations in project program management; continuously improve the approach to align with industry-standard methodologies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in higher education, including 1-2 years of demonstrated experience in managing online degree programs.
  • Experience working with department stakeholders and academic affairs to approve and launch new online degree programs.
  • Experience generating or designing reports and updates that detail project status.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and complete assignments independently with excellent attention to detail and under general supervision.
  • Demonstrated success coordinating multiple projects and stakeholders in a fast-paced, matrixed work environment.
  • Demonstrated problem identification and resolution ability.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Master's degree.
  • At least 3-5 years of demonstrated experience in higher education, including 1-2 years managing online degree programs.
  • Experience with one or more project management methodologies.
