Rutgers School of Nursing–Camden is an important leader in nursing education, research, and engaged civic learning in community service within southern New Jersey, the Delaware Valley, and beyond. The Rutgers School of Nursing-Camden Center for Excellence in Inter-professional Practice, Education, and Innovation (CEIPEI) provides opportunities for active learning, promotes inter-professional collaboration, and stimulates innovation in nursing education and practice. The CEIPEI is accredited by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) . The Wound Ostomy Continence Nursing Education Program (WOCNEP), a certificate within the School of Nursing’s graduate program, is currently the only accredited graduate level WOC program in the United States. Offered in both online and on-campus formats, the WOCNEP recruits students from across the nation. Our MSN in School Health is the first School Nurse Certificate Program based upon the National Association of School Nurses’ (NASN) Framework for the 21st Century School Nursing Practice™.
Posting Summary
The Rutgers School of Nursing-Camden is seeking a Nursing Instructional Lab Specialist. The incumbent will have at least 5 years of clinical experience, and a Master’s in Nursing degree. Must have firsthand experience of the industry and current certification as a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE). The selected candidate will be familiar with both PC and Mac operating systems as well as Microsoft Office.
The incumbent should be a visionary and able to coordinate internal affairs with academic partners and interdepartmental continuing education projects, as well as understand research and development related to simulation activities and disseminates the information. A familiarity with the performance improvement process and taking a systems approach to improve patient safety and student success will be required. Emphasis will be placed upon the Institute of Medicine’s (IOM) conclusion that the major cause of adverse events is poorly designed systems, not negligent individual performance

Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement.

Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Minimum Education and Experience
  • Master’s degree in Nursing and 5 years of clinical experience
  • Firsthand industry experience
  • Clinical experience in community with a strong focus on population health: pediatrics and adult health as well as extensive simulation experience.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, stand, move from one area of the building to another on a regular basis, sit and use a computer for a long period of time
  • Must be able to independently lift and maneuver objects weighing up to 100 pounds
  • Manual and physical dexterity needed to operate a computer keyboard and handle paper documents
  • Sufficient near vision acuity to read information appearing on computer display screen, in hand- written forms, and printed on paper
  • Adequate hearing and verbal abilities to communicate effectively in person and by telephone
