Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Administrative Assistant for the Rutgers’ National Institute for Early Education Research (NIEER).
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Provides administrative support to the management of the National Institute for Early Education Research (NIEER).
  • Assists the management team with administrative functions and supporting research activities including with fiscal management and serves as liaison within and outside unit.
  • Completes other work consistent with a basic understanding of the mission, vision, role, and goals of the administrative, academic, or research unit, and the tasks and responsibilities of the Administrative Assistant in the achievement of unit goals.
  • Works under direct supervision, with specific instructions on routine or semi routine work and within established work parameters for the unit.
  • Performs professional work that requires knowledge of general administrative/office management practices and the application and use of research concepts and terminology of NIEER’s field of expertise.
  • Assists with proposal development, the administration of projects and with the preparation and control of research records, reports, and documents.
  • Schedules appointments, arranges and coordinates logistics for events and meetings.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Shows proven knowledge and understanding of office administration, organization, coordination, facilitation, bookkeeping and/or report writing in relation to project processes and leadership support.
  • Good communication skills and computer literacy (including in SPSS and Excel).
  • Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task with varying priorities and frequent interruptions and the ability to effectively work in a fast-paced environment is a must.
  • Proficiency required in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Must show familiarity with Rutgers Administrative related programs, systems and policies. Familiarity with Endnote, Publisher. Experience with literature searches related to research.

Immunization Requirements


Under Policy 60.1.35 Immunization Policy for Rutgers Employees and Prospective Employees , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster upon eligibility and upload proof of same. Failure to provide proof of vaccination for any required vaccines or obtain a medical or religious exemption from the University will result in rescission of a candidate’s offer of employment or disciplinary action up to and including termination.
