Posting Summary | Rutgers University-Newark, an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise, is seeking a Security Officer / Parking Enforcement. Under the immediate direction of a Security Supervisor, or other University Police personnel. As directed the Security Officer/Parking Enforcement will: •Performs a wide variety of security and parking functions to ensure the safety of persons, protect property, maintain order and enforce the rules and regulations of the University. •Dependent upon assignment, observes, recognized and reports conditions that adversely affect public safety or University policy. •Issues written Security Failure Notices and University Parking Summonses. Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience | • Requires valid driver’s license, two years of driving experience and successful completion of the Rutgers Defensive Driving Course. • Requires ability to effectively communicate in English, both in writing and via two way radio. • Also requires the ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time. • Mandatory overtime required, as necessary; • Must be able to successfully complete the NJ CUPSA Basic Security Officer Training Class and maintain applicable certification as required. • In accordance with New Jersey State law, applicants must agree to undergo and authorize the university to conduct fingerprint, criminal history and/or child abuse record checks with various law enforcement agencies, including but not limited to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Identification Division and/or the New Jersey Division of State Police, Bureau of Identification. • Applicants must also assume any costs incurred by the university associated with the background investigations whether required by statute or not. Any criminal record will affect consideration of a candidate’s application. |

Immunization Requirements
Under Policy 60.1.35 Immunization Policy for Rutgers Employees and Prospective Employees , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster upon eligibility and upload proof of same. Under Policy 100.3.1 Immunization Policy for Covered Individuals , if employment will commence during Flu Season, Rutgers University may require certain prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Additional infection control and safety policies may apply. Prospective employees should speak with their hiring manager to determine which policies apply to the role or position for which they are applying. Failure to provide proof of vaccination for any required vaccines or obtain a medical or religious exemption from the University will result in rescission of a candidate’s offer of employment or disciplinary action up to and including termination.
