A Post-Doctoral Scholar position is available in Vilgelm Laboratory to pursue specialized research training in pre-clinical ImmunoOncology. The successful candidate will conduct research to characterize the mechanisms of tumor immune escape and the regulation of immune cell trafficking under the guidance of a scientific mentor.

This research aims to find novel rational therapeutic strategies to enhance anti-tumor immunity and improve immunotherapy benefits in cancer patients. To this end, the candidate will develop, adopt and implement cutting-edge laboratory methods, including multi-omics, multiplex, automated microscopy, and spectral cytometry to uncover novel mechanisms and utilize the clinically-relevant mouse and Patient-Derived models for pre-clinical validation of actionable targets.

Vilgelm laboratory is affiliated with the OSU Department of Pathology and is a part of the Center for Cancer Engineering, Translational Therapeutics Program, and the Pelotonia Institute for ImmunoOncology. We use the latest innovative technologies and work closely with clinical oncologists to facilitate high-impact translational discoveries.

Education/Experience:

  • Doctoral degree in Immunology, Cancer Biology, Bioinformatics, or closely related fields.

  • Previous experience in cancer immunology, tumor microenvironment, omics technologies, 3D cell culture or mouse models is desirable.

  • Requires successful completion of a background check

  • Qualified candidates may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.

The OSUCCC – James is the only cancer program in the United States that features a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated comprehensive cancer center aligned with a nationally ranked academic medical center and a freestanding cancer hospital on the campus of one of the nation’s largest public universities.

The target hiring range for this position is based on NIH Range: $54,840 - $66,600.
