Job Summary:

This position for a postdoctoral fellow support training the next generation of scientists who can advance and integrate the methods of the continuum of telehealth care delivery models, various technologies, data science and health systems innovation. We aim to expand capacity in 'big health data', health informatics and health systems delivery through innovative education, training and mentoring to develop successful independent future investigators with special knowledge and understanding of telehealth, health data issues, high value applications health system implementation and impact on healthcare delivery and reimbursement policy.

Scholars will be able to participate in a range of projects to expand their knowledge of telehealth care delivery and evaluation, informatics and high value health systems development. Training will focus on integrating data science, stakeholder engagement, implementation science, and health services research across a spectrum of clinical settings and disciplines as well as leadership education. The two -year fellowship curriculum is designed to help PhD or MD researchers develop a balanced research skill set in the combined areas of telehealth data science and patient-centered health services research. Scholars will learn rigorous state-of-the-art data science methodologies and applications to address pressing health problems and advance the science of person-centered, high value health care across the care continuum by integrating different stakeholder perspectives, including payer systems and care delivery systems as learning and innovations partners. Additionally, scholars will have the opportunity to engage in existing CUSOM programs spanning both child and adult health in a range of over 50 health subspecialties, providing unique experiences in scientific research areas including stakeholder engagement, shared decision making, health data informatics and analytics, patient driven value, and care Innovations to develop a new generation of health data and patient-centered care research scientists.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Scholars will lead and support studies resulting academic scholarship, including posters, presentations, grant development and peer-reviewed publications that will enhance independent career-development research funding.
  • The projects will be embedded in the University of Colorado, the CUSOM, the Anschutz Medical Campus and an array of community-based providers and clinic settings and focus on aspects of telehealth, health data analytics and the implementation of high value, patient-centered care that can be adopted locally and disseminated regionally and nationally.
  • Scholars will attend weekly scholar-only research meetings to identify projects of interest, discuss works in progress, identify funding opportunities, and participate in grant applications, publications, and presentations. Scholars will present at least quarterly to assist program mentors to monitor progress and provide guidance.
  • We will support scholars to build their leadership and communication skills through a range of educational offerings addressing value-oriented collaboration, managing organization and system changes, implementing effective stakeholder engagement, and transformational leadership.
  • Emphasis is placed on one-on-one mentorship with faculty to provide expertise in core areas. Other University of Colorado faculty and key staff will be available to provide additional mentorship

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

PhD Applicants:

  • Scholars must possess an advanced degree (doctoral degree) from an accredited program.

MD Applicants:

  • Scholars must possess an advanced degree (doctoral degree) from an accredited program.
  • Completion of a residency program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or the Bureau of Professional Education (BPE) of the American Osteopathic Association.
  • Have an active, unrestricted license to practice in the U.S.
  • Be appropriately board certified or eligible.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Interest in tele supported care.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Desire to shepherd research that is based in stakeholder-engaged data/analytics and that can be applied to the rapidly changing health care environment to improve patient-centered care, as well as their fit with available mentors at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.

    Anticipated Pay Range:

    The starting salary range (or hiring range ) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

    54,840-$66,600 pro-rated by FTE.

    The above salary range (or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
