Writing and Academic Literacy Center Coach - Part Time

Class Description

Writing and Academic Literacy Center Coaches work one-on-one with students to help them develop the personal and academic writing skills and critical thinking needed to achieve academic success. Position may require day, evening, and/or weekend hours.
 
Multiple vacancies available at multiple locations:  Catonsville, Dundalk, Essex,  and Owings Mills

Minimum Requirements

  1. Master's degree required
  2. Currently teaching English (ENGL), Academic Literacy (ACLT), or English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) or have been scheduled to teach in the last six months at CCBC
  3. Experience creating content specific instructional materials
  4. The ability to relate to students of various academic levels, backgrounds, ethnicities, and needs
  5. Experience working with students with disabilities preferred

Class Specific Essential Duties

  1. Meet with students individually on a regular basis
  2. Assist students with becoming better critical thinkers and more skilled writers
  3. Assist students with revising and editing their own work
  4. Assist student with finding, evaluating, using, and citing appropriate academic sources
  5. Complete forms, including Student File Forms and Notification "Stickers", as needed
