The Opportunity

The School of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for a 12-month, non-tenure-earning, clinical instructor position to begin Fall 2023.The successful candidate will join a diverse faculty and staff in a dynamic and growing university with high research activity (RU/H) and an expanding clinical program. The successful candidate will: (a) work collaboratively with a dynamic team of academic and clinical faculty, (b) supervise master’s level student clinicians for diagnostic and intervention sessions, (c) coordinate with the director of the Aphasia House to ensure programmatic continuity and growth, and (d) participate in university committee and service activities. Opportunities to engage in research may also be available. The position involves reporting to the directors of the Aphasia House, Communication Disorders Clinic, and the School of Communication Sciences and Disorders.
The College of Health Professions and Sciences is home to three schools, one department, and six centers and institutes and is a leader in creating positive community change by building partnerships that transcend traditional disciplinary boundaries. The School of Communication Sciences and Disorders was founded in 1969 and was first accredited in 1987. It has a strong history of excellence in teaching, research, and community service. The school includes 26 full-time faculty members serving an average of 200 graduate and 700 undergraduate students. It offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees in communication sciences and disorders. The Master of Arts program boasts numerous internal and external affiliations, including Nemours Children’s Hospital, the Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (CARD), ten public school systems, and the UCF College of Community Innovation and Education. The Communication Disorders Clinic serves as the centerpiece for clinical education and applied research. This 13,500 square foot state-of-the-art facility houses several specialty services, including audiology, the Aphasia House, the UCF Listening Center, the, the Fluency Disorders Clinic, the Voice Care Center, and the Florida Alliance for Assistive Services and Technology (FAAST) Center, which provides assistive technology services in four Florida counties for individuals across the spectrum of age and disability.

Minimum Qualifications:

A master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology/Communication Sciences and Disorders from an accredited institution by time of hire; ASHA CCCSLP certification; eligibility for Florida Speech-Language Pathology Licensure; and a minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in speech-language pathology and completion of the ASHA supervision training requirement.
 

Preferred Qualifications:

Five (5) years of clinical experience in speech-language pathology. Clinical supervision experience with pre-service student clinicians and in a university clinic setting. Preference will also be given to English/Spanish bilingual speakers and applicants with several years’ experience in a rehabilitation setting with a focus on the evaluation and treatment of adults with aphasia and other related disorders.
