The Bennett Lab (https://ebennettlab.com/ ) is seeking applicants for an exciting and unique open postdoctoral scholar position. The Bennett Lab is located within the School of Biological Sciences at the University of California, San Diego. The School of Biological Sciences has recently engaged in an exciting partnership with Thermo Fisher Scientific to establish a technology Sandbox (https://ipps.ucsd.edu/cpp/partners/tfs/index.html ). This open position will be a joint position between the Bennett Lab and the Technology Sandbox. Successful applicants will engage in independent research projects within the Bennett lab utilizing cutting-edge proteomic approaches to define protein homeostasis mechanisms that can be leveraged to combat aging-associated disorders. This position will also utilize mass spectrometry instrumentation within the Sandbox to accomplish research goals. Successful applicants will be appointed as Sandbox Research Fellows and will assist with management and organization of Sandbox technology proteomic resources. Further, applicants with substantial expertise in Orbitrap instrument operation and proteomics methods development and implementation can be considered for a full-time proteomics director position within the Sandbox. The position can start as soon as a successful applicant is identified.    

Applicant qualifications:

PhD degree with less than 2 years of postdoc experience. Applicants with more than 5 years of experience can be considered for the director position.

Established experience with sample preparation, mass spectrometry data acquisition methods, and data analysis is required.

Robust knowledge of quantitative proteomic workflows and methods is desired.

Excellent oral communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work within team-based and collaborative research environments to achieve research outcomes is desired.
