Summary of Job Duties:

*This position is exposed to laboratory animals*
A Post-Doctoral Fellow position is available in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. The laboratory focuses on understanding the molecular pathways of kidney injury resulting from transplantation and applying therapeutics to improve renal outcomes after transplantation. The Post-Doctoral Fellow will contribute to NIH-funded research by using cell/molecular biology, immunohistochemical, cell signaling, and rat models of transplantation to understand how cold ischemia during preservation impacts the long-term outcome of kidney transplants. The fellow will have the opportunity to participate in animal surgery, manuscript/grant writing, and presenting scientific research findings at local or national meetings

Qualifications:

Ph.D. or equivalent in Pharmacology, Physiology, Biochemistry, or related field required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Must be able to work closely with laboratory animal specimens.

  • Ability to perform animal surgical skills and injections is preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Performing animal surgery, injections & basic animal husbandry.

  • Writing manuscripts and grants.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Salary Information:

54840 and up, based on NIH salary scale for Post docs for level of experience.
