Summary

The University of Michigan Medical School's Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is presently recruiting a Faculty Physician in Primary Care Sports Medicine. This is an excellent opportunity clinically to adopt a mature sports medicine practice, as well as teach at a major medical center while living in one of the best small cities in the country. The position provides an opportunity for team physician responsibilities with elite local and national programs. MedSport, the UM sports medicine center, is a 50,000 sq. ft. state of the art facility. Research is also a focal point of this position, with unique opportunity to partner with academic faculty in engineering, kinesiology, athletic performance and molecular biology. Required Qualifications*

Candidates will have an M.D. and be board certified or eligible for certification in a primary care specialty, should have completed a primary care sports medicine fellowship, and have passed, or be eligible to to take,  the CAQ exam in sports medicine. They should hold or have the ability to obtain the appropriate medical licenses in the State of Michigan. Evidence of clinical competence and competence in clinical and didactic teaching is expected. Previous experience as team physician with elite local and national programs is favored. Expertise with image-guided interventions is favored.

Candidates should demonstrate outstanding teaching and clinical care abilities and have associated research interests as demonstrated by publications in peer-reviewed journals and evidence of ability to obtain external funding.

Desired Qualifications*

It is desirable for candidates to have experience and skill caring for patients from diverse backgrounds and working with/mentoring diverse populations in academic training.

This position is posted as Clinical Assistant Professor/Clinical Associate Professor.  The rank of the selected candidate will depend on qualifications.

Background Screening
