Assistant Facilities Manager

Job Description


The Assistant Facilities Manager will be responsible for managing the facilities of the Department of Biological Sciences. The successful candidate will work well independently, be resourceful and interact with a diverse group of faculty, postdoctoral researchers, graduate students, and staff. Strong effective communication skills and ability to prioritize tasks is a must.

The Assistant Facilities Manager will play a critical role in partnering with the Dornsife and University Facilities offices to provide effective support, guidance, and assistance on all issues related to the many BISC buildings including the needs of instructional, research and infrastructure labs. An advanced degree in an analytical area is preferred but not required.

The Assistant Facilities Manager's responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinating facilities and shared equipment maintenance and repair services for Biological Sciences, including the HEB, MCB, MEB and NBIO Research Sections,
  • Collaborating with the Department and Research Section administrative offices and Dornsife’s Architecture Service administration
  • Overseeing space analysis and equipment inventory for all of Biological Sciences,
  • Interacting with vendors and University’s service providers,
  • Providing the administration with clear and efficient status reports of tasks

Salary range: The annual base salary range for this position is $70,244 - $80,000. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
