Position Information

Under the general supervision of the Deputy Financial Administrative Officer, the Financial Analyst provides complex financial, budgetary, analytical, and administrative support to the School of Education (SOE) and School of Public Policy (SPP). As an integral member of the SOE and SPP Business Operations Team, the Financial Analyst independently manages all non-contract and grant funds for SOE and SPP faculty, visiting scholars, and postdoctoral scholars, including a variety of general, sales and service, initial complement/start-up, gift, and endowed chair fund sources. Manages financial reporting for school-wide program areas. Leads student scholarship-related activities, including creating new scholarship gift funds, scholarship fund reporting and analysis, and undergraduate scholarship award processing. Independently performs complex budgetary/resource modeling, and independently researches, formulates, and presents data analysis, financial reports, and recommendations to management and faculty both orally and in writing. Ensures timely financial ledger reconciliation, financial reporting, budget report development and analysis, financial modeling, and processing of budgetary and financial journal entries. Assists management with special projects as assigned, including presentations, policy/procedure/guideline development, and drafting/editing documents. Serves as backup to the Deputy Financial Administrative Officer on Business Operations team functions. The anticipated hiring range is approximately $80,000-$90,000.

Experience with UCR Financial Systems including, UCR Financial System (UCRFS), SuperDope, HR Data Warehouse (HRDW), Salary Cost Transfer Tool, and FAU Change Tool. Preferred

Has ability to independently gather required information, organize, and perform financial analysis assignments.
Proven interpersonal skills with peers throughout the organization; service orientation; critical thinking; attention to detail; ability to multi-task in a high volume environment, organizational skills.
Ability to present information in a clear and concise manner both in writing and verbally.
Thorough knowledge of finance policies, practices and systems.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
Ability to function as a member of a team.
Proven ability to use spreadsheet and database software for complex financial analysis, fiscal management and financial reports.


Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated knowledge and experience working in an academic environment.

Thorough knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
