Summary

BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY: Independently receives, analyzes, coordinates, and completes organ allocation offers and intended transplants. Leads onboarding, orientation, training and coaching of intermediate and associate level team members. General supervision is received from Nursing Supervisor or other designee(s).

Responsibilities*

Senior Level

  • Provides function supervision of intermediate and associate level team member’s activities   and processes associated with the intake and management of organ allocation offers and required responses in accordance with applicable practices, protocols, and policies.             
  • Provide function supervision of intermediate and associate level team member’s scheduling, coordination, and transplantation of accepted organs in accordance with applicable practices, protocols, and policies
  • Provide function supervision of intermediate and associate level team member’s transplant candidate wait list additions, management, and associated communications in accordance with applicable practices, protocols, and policies.
  • Leads and facilitates the onboarding, orientation, training, and ongoing coaching of team members.
  • Leads and facilitates Quality and regulatory compliance efforts, initiatives, and workgroups.
  • Leads and facilitates the team’s efforts to identify and address safety issues or incidents.
  • Represents and reports on team activity or efforts to various committees, workgroups, or collaborations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Intermediate Level

  • Completes activities and processes associate with the intake and management of organ allocation offers and required responses in accordance with applicable practices, protocols, and policies.
  • Completes scheduling, coordination, and transplantation of accepted organs in accordance with applicable practices, protocols, and policies.
  • Completes transplant candidate wait list additions, management, and associated communications in accordance with applicable practices, protocols, and policies.
  • Assists in the onboarding and training of team members.
  • Assists with assigned Quality and regulatory compliance efforts, initiatives, and workgroups.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications*

Senior Level

  •  Minimum of 5-10 years organ donation, transplant, or combined work experience.
  •  American Board of Transplant Coordinators certification or working to obtain within 1-year of hire.

Intermediate Level

  • Minimum of 3-5 years organ donation, transplant, or combined work experience.
  • Working towards American Board of Transplant Coordinators certification within 2-years of hire.

Work Schedule

This position is  a 0.9 FTE  (36 hours weekly) with  rotating shifts

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
