Vaccine Protocol
The University of Maryland has made the safety of our students, faculty and staff, and our surrounding communities a top priority. As part of that commitment, the University requires that students, faculty, and staff on the UMD campus be vaccinated against COVID-19. Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
Studio A is an interactive center in The University of Maryland’s Stamp Student Union that encourages the self-expression and self-development of the UMD community. We offer a creative outlet for students, faculty/staff, and community members via non-credit courses in the arts. Through our weekly classes and frequent workshops, we provide the opportunity to learn new skills, explore a topic, or pursue a creative passion. In addition, we serve as a creative partner for student groups, campus organizations, and departments by offering a physical space and environment for people to come together and create. We encourage people to engage individually and as a team with different modes of perception and expression.
Studio A offers 4 one-week Summer Art Camp sessions between July 10 – August 4, open to children ages 6-12. The Studio A Summer Art Camp runs from 9:00am-4:00pm. Each week, campers participate in three art specialties with trained arts instructors, from drawing and painting to sculpture and media, to music and dance. Specialties change each week, so campers may register for more than one session to explore more mediums. Every week culminates in a showcase for campers’ artistic achievements that parents are invited to.
Camp Instructors will work in collaboration with the camp director and will lead each group of 15 campers with projects in a specific medium. Instructors are supported by one counselor and at least one CIT per group of campers. Campers rotate through 2D art, 3D art, and performance (drumming, dance, or theater) during the day. Camper age groups are 6-7, 8-9, and 10-12.
