Assistant Dean, Corporate Relations

Job Description

The Assistant Dean for Corporate Relations is a vital role within the Office of the Dean at the A.B. Freeman School of Business. Reporting directly to the Dean, the Assistant Dean will lead the School’s corporate relations strategy and operations, building sustainable relationships with a variety of audiences, focusing on highlighting the work of the Schools, raising the school’s profile, providing opportunities for collaboration, and enhancing opportunities for deeper, meaningful partnerships. The Assistant Dean will also coordinate with the Executive Director of Corporation, Foundation, and Research Relations (CFRR) in the University Office of Advancement, as working closely with CFRR is an important component of the role.
 

 

In collaboration with the Dean, key responsibilities include defining the School’s corporate engagement strategy internally and externally, strategically managing the School’s corporate engagement implementation, and oversee prospect management.
 


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience creating and executing strategy with measurable results.
  • Background with applicable corporate engagement and external affairs.
  • Work experience in or liaising to higher education.
  • Negotiating skills. Flexibility, good judgment, integrity, and agility are essential.
  • Proficient in relevant software. Travel and working evenings and weekends will be required.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and excellent discretion while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective oral & written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a wide variety of stakeholders in a multi-constituency environment.
  • Ability to lead diverse, inter-unit initiatives, manage, and prioritize complex projects.
  • Ability to forge partnerships, build relationships, and garner support from community and external constituencies to ensure that people and departments work together smoothly.
 


Required Education and/or Experience

  • Master’s Degree or equivalent and 7 years of related or relevant experience.
OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree and at least 13 years of relevant experience.
 


Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated intra- or entrepreneurial accomplishments.
  • Knowledge of corporate engagement instruments and ability to market academic value to corporate executives.
  • Experience in higher education working with externally facing programming and/or development and fundraising.
