Job Description


Princeton University's Neuroscience Institute seeks applicants for a Research Specialist position with a computational background to join a laboratory whose work focuses on social communication and the neural mechanisms underlying sensory processing and sensory-driven behaviors in the fruit fly, Drosophila. We are looking for an enthusiastic and hard-working individual who has a willingness to learn and acquire new skills (and a demonstrated track record in learning new techniques).

 

This is a one-year term position with the possibility of renewal contingent upon performance and funding.



Assist postdoctoral fellows and lab members in the lab data analysis tasks on projects related to the neural basis of sensorimotor behaviors in Drosophila. Apply specific scientific or technical knowledge to the lab research projects,conduct rigorous analysis, contribute results and scientific writing.

 

Analyze and interpret research data independently. Develop statistical models allowing for integration and display of data and modeling of data. Make recommendations based on results.

 



Master's degree in computer science, computational biology or related field.
Two years minimum prior research or technical assistant experience at a University or Medical School.
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work well with others.
Outstanding references.

Experience in assisting animal behavior experiments is preferred.
