Postdoctoral Position in Multi-wavelength Supernova, Gravitational- Wave, and Time-Domain Research

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position at the University of California, Davis, Physics and Astronomy Department.
The position is in observational research of astronomical transients including supernovae, electromagnetic counterparts to gravitational wave sources or other new peculiar type events. The postdoc will pursue independent research in collaboration with Prof. Stefano Valenti and the UC Davis Transient Group. Send questions regarding this position to valenti@ucdavis.edu . The group is involved in the DLT40 Supernova Search, the Global Supernova Project with the Las Cumbres Observatory global telescope network and the new BlackGEM survey (with guaranteed preferred access to Supernovae type II and fast transients science).

UC Davis is an institutional member of LSST and TMT, with access to Keck and Lick Observatories. Davis is an hour from the San Francisco Bay Area and two hours from
skiing/hiking in the Sierra Nevada mountains and Lake Tahoe.

Applicants should have a PhD in astrophysics and experience with observational astronomy. The appointment is for an initial period of two years, starting no later than Fall 2023, with a possible extension for a third year (depending on future funding).
