Summary

The Kratz Lab within the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation is seeking a person to provide research support to our lab. The clinical subjects assistant will work closely with the research teams members - including the lead investigator and study coordinators - to support a number of ongoing studies, including a longitudinal study that evaluates new ways of detecting cognitive problems in multiple sclerosis.

Responsibilities*

The Clinical Subjects Assistant will assist the study team in the execution of clinical health research in populations such as multiple sclerosis and spinal cord injury. This person can expect to be involved with many aspects of clinical research, including, but not limited to:

  • preparing materials for study visits (10%)
  • assisting with subject recruitment activities (25%)
  • running study visits with participants and collecting study data (20%)
  • processing study data (30%)
  • processing participant payments (10%).
  • The Clinical Subjects Assistant may complete other tasks (e.g., literature searches, etc.) and provide support to additional studies as needed (5%)                         

The characteristic duties and responsibilities of this position may evolve over time to match changing needs and priorities of the study team and the competence and skills of the Clinical Subjects Assistant.

Required Qualifications*

High school diploma or GED is necessary. The applicant should possess excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, and the ability to work cooperatively as a member of a research team. The candidate should have exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills, and demonstrate a high attention to detail, accuracy, diligence, task-focus, and the ability to carefully follow detailed research protocols.

Desired Qualifications*

Associate Degree in Health Science or an equivalent combination of related education andexperience is desirable.Anunderstanding of medical terminology, experience in a large complex health care setting, ability to effectively communicatewith staff and faculty of all levels, and knowledge of university policies and procedures is desirable. A high level of computer proficiency, including working with database programs, survey tools, and spreadsheets is desired. 

Additional Information

This is a 2-year term limited position with extension possible, pending continued availability of funding and Principal Investigator approval.

Background Screening
