POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for assisting the Director of Accounting with implementing, supervising, organizing, planning, and directing daily operations in the Finance and Accounting Department, ensuring timely, accurate reporting of financial activity for the college and college foundation.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepares the Foundation’s financial statements quarterly. Assists with preparation and review of Nashville State’s financial statements. Prepares information for the Foundation’s 990 tax return. Compiles year end reports and schedules. Reviews ledger accounts, propose and post entries as requested/needed. Serves as an internal accountant consultant, advising executive leaders and staff on internal procedures. Manages all accounts payable transactions and supervises accounts payable staff. Reviews and approves journal entries and vendor invoices. Researches and resolves complex questions/issues regarding various accounting topics for the institution
Assists the Director in preparation of required State, Federal and Board reporting. Participates in continuous learning and professional development to stay abreast of accounting standards, best practices and requirements. Assists the Director with implementation of new Governmental Accounting and Financial Accounting Standards. Evaluates open purchase orders quarterly for closeout and resolves receiving and/or payment holds. Develops and innovates processes to improve efficiency within the department. Assists with implementation of new processes. Acts on behalf of the Director in the Director’s absence.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field from an accredited college or university
Five (5) years of professional-level accounting experience
Three (3) years of leadership experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Certified Public Accountant Licensure
Master's Degree in Business, Finance or Accounting from accredited college or university
Experience in higher education or government accounting

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to understand and interpret College policies and procedures, Tennessee Board of Regents’ policies and applicable state and federal laws, rules and regulations. Must demonstrate advanced skill level using Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and Internet. Knowledge and understanding of accounting principles, as well as procedures of financial record keeping and reporting. Must have proven problem-solving ability and skills. Ability to learn and document accounting processes. Confident in taking initiative, prioritizing workload and meeting deadlines. Detail oriented with proven analytical and organizational skills. Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and their application.

Rate of Pay: $60,555 to $75,694, depending on experience
