The Department of Microbiology, Immunology & Molecular Genetics (MIMG) in The Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UT Health San Antonio) is seeking a new Tenure Track Assistant Professor with a research focus on the bacterial microbiome. We are particularly interested in candidates who use innovative approaches including multi-omics tools to investigate the mechanisms by which the bacterial microbiome contributes to pathogenesis through interactions with the immune system.  This faculty recruitment is part of a significant growth phase for the MIMG research programs built on the core strengths of the Department in immunology and microbial pathogenesis, and its integration with the Center for Mucosal and Microbiome Immunology.

The successful candidate will join a highly collaborative group of faculty within the department and across the medical school, will direct a high-quality independent research program, and will contribute to graduate and medical education. MIMG maintains a suite of BSL-3/ABSL-3 laboratories approved for use with Tier-1 select agents. Qualifications

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree with relevant postdoctoral experience. Applicants for the Assistant Professor position must have a record of achievement and productivity and demonstrate the potential to establish and maintain a robust externally funded research program. Applicants for an Associate or Full Professor position must have an established extramurally funded research program with a strong record of peer-reviewed publications and national/international recognition.
