Position Highlights

A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available in the Systems and Industrial Engineering (SIE) department at the University of Arizona. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will work on engineering education research in collaboration with Dr. Hannah Budinoff and Dr. Vignesh Subbian. Expected projects include TREASURE: translating research on asset-based pedagogy into actionable educational practice, with an emphasis on instructor professional development; and INSIGNIAS: makerspace digital badging.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Oversee data collection and analysis using survey measures.
  • Conduct interviews with undergraduate engineering students.
  • Organize and analyze qualitative data using Software tools (e.g., NVivo, Dedoose).
  • Improve existing educational modules related to 3D printing and makerspace technologies.
  • Facilitate professional development for engineering instructors.
  • Provide guidance to graduate students.
  • Communicate research results in a variety of publication venues.
  • Assist in writing research proposals.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Initiative in identifying new research opportunities and collaborations.
  • Proficiency with computer-aided design and makerspace fabrication technologies like 3D printing and laser cutters.
Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD in Engineering or Engineering Education.
  • The selected candidate must have a conferred PhD upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with conducting human subjects research involving both quantitative and qualitative data collection.
  • Experience with developing or leading professional development for educators.
  • Proven track record of writing and publishing conference and journal publications.
