The Managed Grazing Innovation Center (MGIC) is an online school that is owned and operated by Dairy Grazing Apprenticeship (DGA), a nonprofit organization with a federally registered National Apprenticeship in managed grazing dairy production. The Apprenticeship program consists of 4000 hours over two years: 3700 hours of paid fulltime work-based training under an approved Mentor Dairy Grazier and 300 hours of related instruction. DGA also offers a “Managed Grazing Dairy Certificate,” comprised of the same core classes and a two-hour orientation. This meets the requirements for DGA Apprentices and will also be awarded to non-Apprentice students who complete certificate requirements within five years. DGA courses are also open to the public.

Who You Are::

The Instructor’s primary responsibility is to update and deliver related instruction classes for the formal Dairy Grazing Apprenticeship (DGA). The current classes are held virtually on the Zoom and Docebo platforms within the Managed Grazing Innovation Center.

This position will work closely with the DGA Content Manager and outside subject matter experts (SMEs) to continually update class content and keep the information relevant. Instructor will assist with the development and delivery of additional resources for grazing dairy farmers, Apprentices and Journeyworkers. DGA strives to have innovative and up-to-date content that will drive profitability and performance of grazing dairies. Special attention to delivering and assessing performance is critical within an active student engagement platform.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for agricultural education and a strong commitment to accessible education, beginning farmer training, rural development and enjoy being part of a team that is innovative and forward thinking.

This position will report to the Director of Operations. MGIC is an online school within DGA that does not have a physical location. This is a remote office position that requires access to consistent, high-speed Internet. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, online storage filing systems, and organizational software such as Notion, Slack, Dropbox, Google Drive, etc.

What You'll Do::

  • Update and implement relevant and progressive
  • Deliver high quality and engaging content in a virtual setting
  • Create performance assessments aligned with course competencies
  • Promote student success through timely communication and technical feedback
  • Lead online discussions of course material via Docebo (LMS) or Zoom
  • Create a dynamic class culture through synchronous instruction and group interaction
  • Identify innovative educational content to be presented to other participants in the DGA outside of the classes
  • Contribute to conceptualizing grant proposals that will provide additional resources to DGA participants and funding to MGIC
  • Work as a team member to contribute to an innovative and collaborative staff culture

What You Bring::

  • Prefer Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education/Ag Education or Dairy Science, with emphasis on managed grazing systems
  • At least five years of related
  • Excellent written, oral, and electronic communication
  • Good people-management and administrative
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus
  • Experience or aptitude for coaching, facilitation, and interpersonal
  • Professionalism in approach to work: positive attitude, team effort, commitment to personal improvement and doing a good job, honesty, and integrity.
  • High degree of time management skills in a home office setting.
  • Experience or aptitude for using online learning management systems (such as Docebo, Blackboard, Moodle, or Google Classroom, etc.) to deliver instruction.

What We Offer::

This is a full-time exempt position. Annual salary is based on experience and is negotiable within the range of $50,000 - $60,000, commensurate with experience. Benefits include a healthcare stipend ($650) and optional dental/vision insurance; 401K retirement match; flexible scheduling; 11 paid holidays; and one week of paid vacation to start, increasing to two weeks after a full year of employment. All work-related travel expenses are reimbursed.
