Assistant Director of Residential Services-ICF

Job Description

Verland is seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Residential Services-ICF to lead the residential services managers and residential coordinator within the ICF. This individual will oversee the residential service mission at our Sewickley, Natrona Heights Intermediate Care Facility (ICF) and Cheswick Intermediate Care Facility ("ICF.") The Assistant Residential Services Director-ICF will report to Director of Residential Services-ICF.

For 43 years, Verland has been a regional leader in providing services to people who have serious intellectual disability, often exacerbated by physical disabilities. Serving more than 230 individuals in four western Pennsylvania counties, Verland provides a wide range of services including residence; nursing care; physical, occupational, aquatic, and equestrian therapies; communication training; dietary services; and socialization/activities programming.

The Assistant Residential Services Director is responsible training, leading, managing, and direct oversite of the residential managers, coordinator, and indirectly the direct support professionals. In addition to working with the Assistant Director of Residential Services on the oversight and growth of the ICF efforts throughout the organization while providing growth and leadership to team members within the residential department. As a leader in this capacity building a culture of inclusion and making the health and safety of the individuals that we serve will be a very important responsibility.

This is a full-time position.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensures compliance with ICF/MR regulations and other Federal and state laws and regulations to insure that residential care is within the ICF/MR standards.
  • Ensuring residential managers are experts related to programs and records to insure individuals' needs are being met consistent with goals and objectives outlined in the individual plan of care.
  • Strategically work side by side with the clinical leadership team to ensure that health and safety for the individuals that we server are being met in-line with the ICF/MR regulations.
  • Acts as the liaison for the ICF residential team with the union, families, and agencies
  • Build excellent relationships within teams and leads by example thru collaboration, effective communication, and accountability.
  • Lead, mentor, and coach the residential team to meet annual goals and objectives, and to undertake new initiatives as appropriate.
  • Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates staff development and training enhancements in collaboration with the staff development specialist in Human Resources.
  • Develops policies and procedures affecting Direct Support Professionals' responsibilities.
  • Coordinates scheduling of Direct Support Professionals in collaboration with the residential services coordinator manager.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of staff utilization.
  • Maintain working communications and collaborative efforts with Verland administrators and department heads, and Finance Department.
  • Participate in Verland Board of Directors meetings, as requested
  • Collaborate with management staff on projects that build and strengthen the Verland brand.
  • Commit to high ethical standards and comply with the Code of Conduct, state and federal regulations, accreditation standards, and Verland policies and procedure.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident, donor, and employee records and information.
  • Recognize the duty to report compliance concerns, significant legal risk questions, fraud, abuse, and suspected or actual misconduct to a supervisor/manager or to the Compliance Officer.

Requirements:

  • Must have experience as a Program Specialist or QIDP in the IDD field.
  • Knowledge of the principles and methods of program planning, organization, direction, interpretation, and evaluation, and methods of administration.
  • Must possess working knowledge of community participation practices, an understanding of the challenges facing people with disabilities, and a commitment to help to improve the lives and circumstances of individuals within the IDD community.
  • Must have knowledge/ability to learn Adult Training Facility Regulations (2380) and ICF/MR Regulations.
  • Must have the ability to plan, coordinate, and supervise staff efforts.
  • Effective verbal and written skills necessary to communicate with individuals and staff.
  • Ability to establish an effective working relationship with all those with whom the department comes in contact, i.e., other internal departments, parents/families of the individuals, union officials, and various community contacts.
  • Extensive knowledge of the workings of the nonprofit sector.
  • Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build a healthy work culture.
  • Must be able to work a flexible shift, when needed and be on call.


Education requirements:

  • Master's degree in Human Services field or equivalent, with at least four years in a leadership positions, working with members that are a part of the IDD community.
  • At least three years of management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience as a positive and inclusive team leader/team builder
  • Maturity and professionalism in demeanor, communication, and judgment
  • Experience in digital administrative systems and office software
