Job Summary
To teach elementary, intermediate and specialized courses in Spanish language and culture; with assignments in French as well.

 

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teach elementary, intermediate and specialized courses in Spanish language and culture; with assignments in French as well.
  • Use innovative instructional strategies that support student success and recognize diverse learning styles.
  • Participate in curriculum and program development and outcomes assessment.
  • Use technology to teach distance-learning courses and enhance instruction.
  • Contribute to a dynamic student-centered environment requiring adaptability, creativity, and teamwork.
  • Demonstrate commitment to the community college mission and its diverse student populations.
  • Serve on college-wide committees and engage in departmental discussion and development.
  • Be willing to commute and teach at multi-campus locations as required by department needs.

 

Minimum Requirements
  • Master’s degree or above in Spanish, with a second language proficiency in French required.
  • Minimum of three years’ teaching experience in the specific discipline(s) at the community college/university level preferred, or equivalent 3 years’ experience at the secondary level
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, and a collaborative approach to working with students and colleagues.
  • Finalists will be required to provide official college transcripts, 3 references, and a teaching philosophy statement.

 

Competencies and Desired Qualifications
  • Second language acquisition training and a second language proficiency and teaching experience in French preferred.
  • Experience in developing and teaching language courses for specific/professional purposes preferred.
  • Expertise in curriculum development and teaching heritage language speakers desired.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working with a diverse student body.
