Job Summary
To teach elementary, intermediate and specialized courses in Spanish language and culture; with assignments in French as well.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach elementary, intermediate and specialized courses in Spanish language and culture; with assignments in French as well.
- Use innovative instructional strategies that support student success and recognize diverse learning styles.
- Participate in curriculum and program development and outcomes assessment.
- Use technology to teach distance-learning courses and enhance instruction.
- Contribute to a dynamic student-centered environment requiring adaptability, creativity, and teamwork.
- Demonstrate commitment to the community college mission and its diverse student populations.
- Serve on college-wide committees and engage in departmental discussion and development.
- Be willing to commute and teach at multi-campus locations as required by department needs.
Minimum Requirements
- Master’s degree or above in Spanish, with a second language proficiency in French required.
- Minimum of three years’ teaching experience in the specific discipline(s) at the community college/university level preferred, or equivalent 3 years’ experience at the secondary level
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, and a collaborative approach to working with students and colleagues.
- Finalists will be required to provide official college transcripts, 3 references, and a teaching philosophy statement.
Competencies and Desired Qualifications
- Second language acquisition training and a second language proficiency and teaching experience in French preferred.
- Experience in developing and teaching language courses for specific/professional purposes preferred.
- Expertise in curriculum development and teaching heritage language speakers desired.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working with a diverse student body.
