Job Description

Virginia Peninsula Community College is a two-year institution of higher education established as a part of a statewide system of community colleges. It primarily serves the residents of the cities of Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson, and Williamsburg, and the counties of James City and York.

Directs Facilities Maintenance, Capital Outlay, and Maintenance Reserve processes and operations. Manages staff and resources related to the procurement, design, construction or renovation of capital projects or noncapital outlay for VPCC’s construction and maintenance reserve programs. Manages all contracts related to facility related operations. Coordinates all facility related operational planning for the College.

 

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Management, Business or related field or any combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge, experience, and understanding of Capital Outlay and Maintenance Reserve processes.
  • Ability to plan and direct multiple projects and priorities related to effective maintenance and management of facilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a diverse team, communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and work effectively with multi-cultural populations that support diversity, cultural understanding, and inclusion.
  • Experience fostering a culture that values frequent, clear, and transparent communication amongst numerous stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated track record of working cooperatively and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Considerable experience successfully managing major contracts and contractors.
  • Functional experience with bidding, contracts, blueprints, building systems, and capital construction.

 

Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge, experience, and understanding of VCCS Capital Outlay and Maintenance Reserve processes.
