Job Description

Neel Pasricha, MD is hiring postdoctoral fellows and research specialists to join his lab at UCSF. The laboratory’s research focus is on the discovery and testing of small molecule modulators of ion transporters/channels important in ocular surface diseases, including dry eye disease. Approaches include high-throughput screening of small molecule libraries using cell-based assays, and compound testing and optimization using cellular assays and rodent models. The identified compounds are used for hypothesis-driven physiological research and as candidates for drug development for human diseases.

Postdoctoral fellows and research specialists will present data at scientific meetings, prepare manuscripts, apply for research funding, and mentor junior members in the lab. Technical methods will include non-invasive electrophysiology measurements of the ocular surface in humans and mice, in vitro electrophysiology in cells and tissues, cell culture, fluorescence plate reader assays of transport, molecular biology (PCR, animal genotyping, Western blot), immunostaining, and working with rodents.

For the postdoctoral position, applicants must hold a PhD, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree. Background in molecular and cellular biology is required, with experience in cell culture and animal models. Candidates should have good written/oral communications skills, ability to work effectively in a team environment, be highly organized, and have a documented record of research accomplishments.

For the research specialist position, applicants must possess a baccalaureate degree (or equivalent degree) in molecular and cell biology (or equivalent field) and/or at least 4 years of research experience.

Applicants should send a brief description of their research interests and a curriculum vitae that includes contact information for three references to: Neel.Pasricha@ucsf.edu
