The University of Notre Dame, University Relations division, is seeking an innovative and strategic thinker with strong financial acumen to serve as the next Senior Director of Financial Administration and Strategy. This individual is responsible for leading the teams responsible for finance, budget, and athletic ticket allocation, as well as the strategic deployment of space for the division.
Reporting directly to the Associate Vice President of Advancement Services, the incumbent will serve as the primary financial leader of the University Relations division, which includes Development, the Office of the Vice President, and the Alumni Association. The successful candidate will effectively and efficiently manage the financial resources of the division, both labor and non-labor related, including ticket allotment, space, and salary allocation; drive innovation and utilize strategic approaches to achieve best in class results; and develop and maintain trusted partnerships with University leaders, departmental partners, and other business units across campus.
Key Goals and Activities include:
Financial Management:
- Serve as University Relations primary point of contact for the Budget Working Group and Compensation team within Human Resources.
- Lead a team of two finance Colleagues that will plan, prepare, and manage the division budget.
- Ensure proper distribution of monthly budget reports and year end close
- Prepare quarterly financial reports for the Office of Budget and Planning.
- Complete annual merit salary incentive and incorporate labor spend into budget planning.
- Maintain, analyze, and steward division labor and non-labor dollars and assist in setting salaries for new hires, transfers, and promotions.
- Ensure annual analytics are completed and forecast overall financial management trends
Strategic Planning:
- Collaborate with Associate Vice Presidents and Senior Leadership Team to develop, maintain, and regularly update strategic plans.
- Ensure alignment between strategic plan and divisions’ financial resources.
- Contribute to helping establish effective processes for salary administration and ensure allocation of salaries are in alignment with overall strategic plan.
- Strategically deploy office space for a division that accounts for growth and hybrid work considerations.
- Work collaboratively with legal counsel on contracts as it relates to space, consulting engagements, and licensing.
Athletic Ticket Management:
- Oversee two team members who manage athletic ticket distribution (football, basketball, hockey) to ensure proper allocation.
- Optimize ticket investment to ensure maximum utilization.
- Complete audits related to ticket distribution and any special activities such as bowl games. Prepare regular reporting for the University Tax Director related to taxable fringe.
- Oversee similar ticket distribution for any large University special events.
Minimum Qualifications
- BBA in Accountancy or Management
- 7+ years experience
- Strong understanding of financial principles, accounting practices, and general tax guidance
- Strategic thinker who can identify areas to be analyzed resulting in generation of revenue/cash or process improvement.
- Superior ability to partner with leaders across the division and University to reach optimal solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
CPA or MBA preferred
