Position Qualification
Position Summary | The University of Nebraska, Department of Pharmacology and Experimental Neuroscience is seeking a postdoctoral research associate for research focusing on the development of an effective AIDS vaccine in a nonhuman primate model of human HIV infection using molecular biology, virology, immunology, immunotherapy, bioinformatics, proteomics, and genomic tools to understand host-virus dynamics and immunology of infectious diseases including HIV/AIDS/SIV and SARS-CoV-2. Ph.D. or D.V.M required. Preference with a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology/Immunology/Virology or DVM with a Ph.D. in Immunology/Virology or DVM. Hands-on experience with small and large animals is preferred. Extensive working experience using flow cytometry/cloning/design of new vectors/CRISPR-Cas technologies is also needed. Research interests include having relevant animal models as a synergistic platform for the preclinical development of vaccines/therapeutics, including CAR-T cells research and immunological aspects of the disease. A self-motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate is required to understand the immunological basis of HIV/SIV/COVID-19 therapeutics. Supplemental Qualifications | Must show evidence of training in molecular biology techniques and experience in cell culture, immunoassays, and quantitative PCR methods. A deep understanding of viral immunology is needed, plus strong motivation to harness this knowledge for drug discovery and therapeutics. Prior experience in infectious disease research, immunology, immunotherapy, and molecular biology and published work in peer-reviewed journals. |
