Description of Work Unit
The Department of Human Development and Family Studies is one of eight academic programs in the College of Health and Human Sciences. Colorado State University (CSU) is Colorado’s land grant institution and holds the Doctoral/Research University – Extensive classification from the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education. CSU is one of the core academic institutions that comprise the Colorado Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CCTSI). Many faculty in Human Development and Family Studies engage in multidisciplinary research collaborations with other CCTSI institutions and affiliates, including the University of Colorado School of Medicine and the Children’s Hospital Colorado. Community-engaged research is an essential aspect of research within the Human Development and Family Studies Department.
Founded in 1870, Colorado State University is among the nation’s leading research universities and enrolls approximately 32,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. Located an hour north of the Denver metro area, Fort Collins is a vibrant community of approximately 157,000 residents that offers the convenience of a small town with all the amenities of a large city. Position Summary
Researchers in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies at CSU are looking for postdoctoral research scientists to support the Department’s mission to generate, disseminate and apply knowledge about human development across the lifespan, in the context of family, culture, and society. Postdoctoral fellows will support the Department’s goal to use knowledge to help resolve societal and developmental challenges faced by children, families, and our aging population and to promote optimal development and opportunities for all. Postdoctoral fellows have the chance to participate in research on human development and family studies from an interdisciplinary perspective. Postdoctoral fellows are expected to support research activities in HDFS within a designated research lab, with opportunities to also develop a skillset that will support their career development.
Required Job Qualifications
Must have doctoral degree in psychology, human development and family studies, or a closely related field.
Preferred Job Qualifications
  • Research experience with data collection and analysis, familiarity with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and a statistical software package preferred.
  • Prior experience in the day-to-day organization of research projects, including recruitment of and contact with study participants, coordination of data collection activities, and data management.
