Postdoctoral positions on the study of neurodegenerative diseases

Job Description

Postdoctoral positions and Research Associate positions are available in the Qi lab at the Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) School of Medicine to study neurodegenerative diseases.

The Qi lab studies cellular and molecular mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases, emphasizing mitochondrial pathology, metabolism, and immune response. We use a combination of in vitro cell culture, in vivo transgenic animal models, and patient iPS cells-derived neurons and glia to study the pathogenesis underlying neurodegenerative diseases. The development of medicines to treat human diseases is another area of research that the lab focuses on. We have been using rationally designed peptide inhibitors of protein-protein interactions and high-throughput screening to identify therapeutic options for neurological disorders.

The successful applicants will participate in NIH-funded projects on elucidating the molecular basis of metabolic dysregulation and the immune response in neurodegenerative diseases. The applicants must have a PhD and/or MD degree in neuroscience, molecular biology, cell biology, pharmacology, or a related field.

CWRU is one of the top universities in the United States and a leading independent research institute. It is located in the urban and culturally rich University Circle neighborhood of Cleveland. CWRU also has a close partnership with the Cleveland Clinic, a top hospital in the United States. The great Cleveland metropolitan area is a family-friendly, very affordable area with one of the top school systems in the United States.

Interested individuals should send a cover letter, CV, and the names/phone numbers of three people who could provide letters of reference by email to Xin Qi, PhD, at xxq38@case.edu . Please visit our lab website at https://www.xinqi-lab.com for additional information.
