Summary

We are in search of a Sponsored Programs Research Administration Assistant to join our team in the Finance-Sponsored Programs office.  This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a unit that covers a wide range of administrative and compliance related responsibilities, serving both internal and external customers.  The Research Administration Assistant position provides support for Sponsored Programs’ Reporting, Customer Service, and Office of Contract Administration areas that form a central base for the management of thousands of research Grants and Contracts, ensuring compliance with sponsor guidelines. 


Starting Salary: $45,500

Responsibilities*

The position is responsible for a variety of tasks that support the University’s research enterprise. Primarily, the position focuses on the review of Uniform Guidance (UG) expenditures in comparison with approved federally sponsored projects’ budgets and provides policy and procedure interpretation to University departments surrounding the UG requirements.  This position will also conduct Uniform Guidance review of sub recipient invoices.  In addition to the UG workload, this position will assist with administrative processes in support of the grant management lifecycle, with potential exposure to the pre and post-award administrative process of the National Research Service Awards (NRSA) for training and fellowships grants.

Required Qualifications*

Candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree.  Office experience, particularly in accounting and/or bookkeeping, is preferred.  Candidate must be highly motivated and enjoy working in a fast paced, production environment. Candidate should possess strong interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively communicate and work with a variety of individuals and units. Candidate must be detail oriented, organized, and have the ability to prioritize multiple projects and work independently.  Candidate should have experience working with Microsoft Word and Excel.

PLEASE NOTE WORK SCHEDULE:  This is a full-time position; Monday through Friday.  As part of the University of Michigan Finance Division Future of Work initiative, this position may work onsite, remote, or hybrid (both onsite work and remotely) based on the business needs of the unit.
