This position will work a hybrid schedule with part-time in the office and part-time remote work

Under supervision, incumbent will serve as the MRI Lab Assistant and will perform multiple aspects of data entry, organization, analysis, and written report. Transport and organize MR imaging data using PACS software, perform analysis of the data using Matlab and other imaging software, reporting of the results into spreadsheets and presentations for dissemination. Keeping a daily log of work activities. Participate in weekly research meetings and outline research findings and methods of improvement. Contribute scientific research data for grant submissions. Perform general lab operations, including magnetic resonance (MR) scanning.

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality of patient/study subject data.

  • Demonstrated experience in a science research lab environment.

  • Demonstrated experience in submission and maintenance of IRBs.

  • Demonstrated experience assisting with organization of a research project following established protocols.

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate records.

  • Demonstrated experience in scientific writing using correct grammar, punctuation, spelling, editing, formatting, and proofreading skills to clearly and concisely provide accurate information.

  • Demonstrated experience with the operation of a personal computer and software, such as MATLAB, MS Word and Excel. Knowledge to work with and learn new software for analysis.

  • Demonstrated skill in accurate record keeping and ability to organize, analyze, and calculate data. Knowledge of basic math.

  • Demonstrated experience with basic lab safety requirements and procedures. Experience maintaining inventories

  • Demonstrated experience to handle MRI data, PACS, e-Film.

  • Proven ability to work as part of a team, establishing and maintaining good working relationships with P.I., supervisor, postdoctoral scholars, and other members of the research group.

  • Demonstrated experience in library and internet research.

  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) needed to interact professionally and effectively in the work environment, as well as effectively and accurately document research procedures. Ability to read, comprehend and discuss research materials.

  • Experience working with patients and subjects in clinical and research setting

  • Experience in writing documents, academic letters, and flyers

  • Familiarity with lab and MRI safety procedures and policies

  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check.

  • Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.

  • Overtime may be required.


Pay Transparency Act Full Salary Range: $51,949 - $61,972 Annually

The University of California, San Diego is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience. The full salary range for this position is defined as the Full Pay Range. The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position defined as the Expected Pay Scale. Placement within the Expected Pay Scale is determined by internal equity, relevant qualifications, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
