Responsibilities*

This position is responsible for receiving, accessioning, triage, delivery and return of outside case materials for the purpose of private consultations or for patients transferring their care to the University of Michigan for continuation of care.

  • Create case information in customized pathology software.
  • Adjust rapidly to daily changes in workflow.
  • Pay attention to detail to ensure correct patient assets are accessioned and returned correctly.
  • Work as a team to efficiently accomplish daily work in a production environment.

Required Qualifications*

In order to be considered for this position the applicant must have met or will have met all the required qualifications prior to the start date of employment. 

  • High school diploma and 0-2 years of experience.
  • Good keyboarding skills to work at a fast pace in a production environment.
  • Strong ability to multitask and not let tasks fall through the cracks in spite of the constant interruptions throughout the day.
  • Good communication skills whether in person, telephone or E-mail with professional tone, correct grammar and spelling, and a positive, pleasant attitude.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Applicant should possess excellent problem solving skills; able to solve problems independently as well as attention to detail to ensure correct patient assets are accessioned and returned correctly.
  • Experience and aptitude with a variety of computer software programs, including but not limited to MiChart, Soft, Microsoft Office products and E-mail systems is a must and the ability to work as a team with diverse populations.
  • Ability to work as a team with diverse populations.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Associate’s degree
  • UMHS experience
  • Pathology experience
  • Proficient computer skills in Soft, MiChart and the Cancer Center Tracking Tool.

Work Locations

This position will be located at the North Campus Research Complex (NCRC) which is located at 2800 Plymouth Rd. There may be occasional coverage required at Michigan Medicine.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act.
