Program Administrator, Quantum Photonics Group (QPG)

Job Description

PROGRAM ADMINISTRATOR, Research Laboratory of Electronics (RLE)/Microsystems Technology Laboratory (MTL)/Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS)-Quantum Photonics Group (QPG), to oversee daily operations, administration, and science coordination.  Will oversee and carry out communications and outreach strategy; contribute to strategic planning for operationally managing member relationships; identify and recruit new and develop existing relationships; facilitate interactions between QPG members and MIT faculty/staff and research partners; develop/prepare program documentation, reporting, and presentations; and perform other duties as assigned.  

Headed by Professor Dirk Englund, Dr. Ryan Hamerly, and Dr. Matthew Trusheim, the Quantum Photonics Group pursues experimental and theoretical research in advanced photonics, quantum information science and engineering, and machine learning/AI (Publications are available here).  The team includes 40+ scientists and engineers and much of its work is heavy in computing.  The work involves strong collaborations with other academic groups, government research, large industry, as well as entrepreneurship/startups. There are many opportunities for career development, including through possible involvement in teaching tools, etc.  

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED:  bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, physics, quantum information science, or a related STEM field; three years' experience in program management, administration, and/or business development in a complex and rapidly growing scientific environment; ability to understand complex situations and operationally implement new ideas beyond functional expertise; and experience with international programs and program development in an innovative environment.  Seek a flexible, proactive, mission-driven individual who can work autonomously in a complex, start-up-like workplace while also persuading and collaborating with a diverse group of people.  PREFERRED: advanced degree; knowledge of MIT; knowledge of grant funding resources and experience writing and coordinating applications and reports/manuscripts; and excellent writing, proofreading, interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and oral communication skills.  Job #22276-8
