Job Description:

The Department of Pharmaceutics at the University of Florida (UF) College of Pharmacy seeks a highly self-motivated postdoctoral associate to work under the mentorship of Dr. Abhisheak Sharma.  Sharma’s Lab conducts research in the multidisciplinary area of pharmacokinetics and metabolism (DMPK) to development of NCEs and complex natural products.

The postdoc will work on in vitro, ex-vivo and in vivo models to support ADME (absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion) studies desired for IND filing. The candidates should be comfortable with handling animals (rats and mice) and cell culture (hepatocytes, Caco-2, MDCK, etc.) in a laboratory environment. Research focus will also include the blood-brain barrier permeability and bidirectional efflux assays. Experience in handling LC-MS/MS, HPLC, and pharmacokinetic modeling are highly desirable. Experience with studying feto-metarnal pharmacokinetics will be preferred. It is anticipated that the successful candidate can design, execute and interpret the in vitro and in vivo DMPK assays.

Expected Salary:

Salary as defined by NIH guidelines, and based on education and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biological Sciences or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Degree or research focus in Pharmacokinetics & Metabolism, strongly preferred
  • Experience with LC-MS instrumentation, cell culture, animal handling and pharmacokinetics software is preferred.
  • Experience with preparing abstracts and manuscripts for publication and submitting research grant proposals is preferred.
  • Creative, possess an exceptional work ethic, and be able to complete experiments and data analysis independently and efficiently.
