Postdoctoral position 
Cornell University is the land-grant university for New York state whose mission is to discover, preserve and disseminate knowledge while promoting a culture of broad inquiry throughout and beyond the Cornell community. The Alabi lab (https://alabilab.com ) in the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Cornell is seeking a postdoctoral researcher in the fields of antibody drug conjugates and infectious disease for a project that seeks to develop novel antimicrobial antibody conjugates. The position will remain open until filled with a flexible start date of May- July 2023. The successful applicant will be responsible for creating protein bioconjugates, (bio)analytical characterization, and performing small vertebrate animal studies to validate the bioconjugates in vivo. We seek applicants that are independent thinkers with a strong drive for learning and discovery. Responsibilities
The successful applicant will work with a multidisciplinary research team (chemists, bioengineers, and chemical engineers) to create antimicrobial protein bioconjugates, perform in vitro and in vivo studies, and analyze/synthesize data. The applicant is expected to play a major role in determining new research directions, advising graduate and undergraduate students, drafting manuscripts, and presenting results at professional meetings. Specific skill sets and responsibilities include: 
• Chemoenzymatic protein conjugation, purification, and quantitation 
• Routine molecular-based assay development using HPLC, LCMS, ELISA, etc 
• Perform in vitro mammalian and bacterial cell culture 
• Perform animal studies • Manage collaborations with several academic partners 
• Routine documentation of results in laboratory notebooks & databases and prepare manuscripts for publication. Present experimental results at conference meetings and participate in grant writing. 
Education and Qualifications 
• PhD in biochemistry, chemical engineering, bioengineering, chemistry, or a closely related field. 
• The ideal candidate will have experience with small vertebrate animals (mice).
• Proficient with HPLC, LCMS, gel electrophoresis, protein conjugation and purification
• Obsessive attention to detail, planning, and ability to troubleshoot
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
