Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Data Analyst (Program Evaluation Specialist) in Cancer Health Equity & Engagement at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey.
The Data Analyst (Program Evaluation Specialist) in the Cancer Health Equity Center of Excellence (CHECoE) is responsible for the management of associated data, data systems, and processes for collection, curation, analysis, and reporting of key evaluation metrics and other information related but not limited to CHECoE’s efforts to advance the achievement of equitable access, improved health care quality, and better outcomes across the cancer continuum through training and education, research, community engagement, and public policy advocacy.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize efficiency and quality for the CHECoE.
  • Work with CHECoE leadership to prioritize and plan databases for CHECoE and Strategic Planning including locating and defining new process improvement opportunities.
  • Work with CHECoE Leadership and other key personnel to test, set up, and utilize databases for Center’s purpose and collaboration with Central Administration for CINJ’s purposes.
  • Oversee the collection, management, and storage of the CHECoE Strategic Plan and Administration data (such as updates on Strategic Plan strategies, and that interdigitate with the Community Outreach and
    Engagement strategic plan, the CINJ strategic plan, and other key related Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG) metrics related to catchment area strategies, and administrative reports).
  • Liaise closely with other departments to assist with data tracking projects and systems, including assessing whether platforms available to the CHECoE (e.g., EVAL, Envisio) can appropriately be leveraged for such data tracking and management.
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant applications, solutions, and tools.
  • Work with CHECoE leadership to prioritize Center and information needs.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of three (3) years of progressive data management experience.
  • Experience with data management, databases, use of common programming languages such as SQL, R, or SAS, and evaluation systems such as Envisio, Salesforce, and EVAL.
  • Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must be computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, OneDrive, and Teams).
  • Must have basic understanding of medical terminology, biology, chemistry and biomedical research.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and handle several projects at once in a fast-paced environment.
  • Outstanding human relations and communication skills, and the ability to function in a team environment.
  • Effective oral and communication skills.
  • An understanding of an academic environment is advantageous.
  • Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in an academic medical center environment.
  • Prior experience with Strategic Planning.
