Summary
The University of Michigan-Dearborn (UM-Dearborn) is one of the three campuses of the University of Michigan system. UM-Dearborn is a comprehensive university offering high-quality undergraduate, graduate, professional, and continuing education to residents of southeastern Michigan, and currently enrolls over 9,000 students. UM-Dearborn is located 10 miles west of downtown Detroit and 35 miles east of Ann Arbor. The campus is strategically located on 200 suburban acres of the original Henry Ford Estate in the Greater Detroit Metropolitan Region.
Experience+ (EXP+) is a campus-wide initiative that endeavors to connect students to opportunities across campus, to encourage learning experiences and reflection, and to promote academic, personal, and professional competencies. The EXP+ teams from the Mardigian Library, Career Services, Talent Gateway, and Global Engagement provide programming, workshops, career development and research opportunities, as well as support for current internship and co-op programs in partnership with faculty and the college units.
The Marketing Intern's main project will be to assess the connection between the Experience+ brand and the campus community (students, faculty and staff) and to make recommendations of a marketing strategy and implementation plan to improve brand recognition. The intern will report to the Executive Director of Experience+.
Responsibilities*
- Develop an assessment tool to determine current brand recognition, then analyzing the results
- Suggest a potential marketing plan/strategy that could be implemented
- Research and evaluate trends in higher education that impact marketing strategy
- Assist in the analysis of event attendance data and the correlation with various marketing initiatives to better inform future publicity strategies
- Other tasks as needed
Required Qualifications*
- Experience or coursework in marketing management, digital analytics and marketing, and/or marketing principles and policies
- Strong communication skills and positive attitude
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Basic knowledge of common UM tools such as the Google Apps (Drive, Gmail, Docs) and Dropbox
- Represent Exp+ and the University in a respectful and professional manner
