Summary

The RPM Senior Human Resource Assistant will provide support to the Human Resources and Research Administration offices in the Division of Resource Planning and Management in the College of Engineering’s Dean’s Office.  Reporting to the HR Director, this position supports both human resources and administrative activity for the HR team and the Director of Research Administration.

Responsibilities*

  • Review and approve HR transactions from CoE departments, support hiring managers in the recruitment process (regular and temporary) as assigned; update various spreadsheets for tracking activity; file HR paperwork
  • Produce reports and presentations as necessary including New Employee Orientation and annual Performance Review and Planning materials
  • Maintain the Michigan Engineering Human Resource and Research Administration website and RPM staff directory
  • Manage the College’s Sponsored Event Alcohol Request Form and process
  • Manage the calendars of the HR team and Research Administration team; take minutes at team meetings and manage meeting logistics
  • Provide administrative support to the HR and Research Administrative teams with other administrative tasks (e.g.; purchasing, mail, event planning)
  • Follow up with departments on outstanding HR transactions, issues with transactions, etc.
  • Receive and route HR paperwork as appropriate both internally and externally; including sending all onboarding and offboarding materials as needed
  • Provide back-up for room scheduling in the Lurie Engineering Building
  • Serve as the first point of contact for the Performance Review system to troubleshoot issues and serve on the Performance Review Partners Committee
  • Manage the retirement gift and professorship chair gift process
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications*

  • Associate’s degree in business administration or a related field or five years of experience in a business setting
  • Excellent technical skills including Microsoft and Google applications, virtual meeting applications
  • Experience managing calendars and scheduling meetings for varying audiences with discretion
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to network and collaborate with diverse groups and teams across campus

Desired Qualifications*

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field
  • Experience in a higher education setting
  • Knowledge of web applications (WordPress) and Google Add-Ons
  • Knowledge of UM human resources policies and procedures
  • Experience working in Wolverine Access
  • Experience reconciling PCard and Concur

Additional Information

The Michigan Engineering Office of Resource Planning and Management operates in a hybrid work environment consisting of both in-person and remote work. This position will be classified as a FLEX position within the Michigan Engineering STARR classification matrix which means working on campus 2-3 days per week and working remotely the rest of the week.
