Job Description
The Montgomery College School of Education is currently accepting applications for possible openings as a part-time academic coach/mentor for the Early Childhood Alternative Certification Program (ECACP). We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated educators who exhibit a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to our students, and who demonstrate the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coach/Mentor candidates in the Early Childhood Alternative Certification Program.
- Engage with ECACP candidates in face-to-face and in technology-rich environments.
- Adhere to the college curriculum and course outcomes.
- Manage and report ECACP candidates’ progress in a timely manner.
- Use Blackboard for course management, course materials, and course communication.
- Provide coaching / mentoring to ECACP candidates to ensure their successful progress and completion.
- Ability to coach / mentor face-to-face on campus and/or virtually in a structured remote teaching setting for morning, afternoon, or evening.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education with current or previous certification in PreK – 3rd grade, Elementary Education, or Special Education.
- Three to five years of experience in early childhood education settings and teaching in public PreK – 3rd grade.
- The ability to use a Learning Management System (LMS) and other web-based instructional technology to facilitate learning in a web-enhanced environment.
- Demonstrated experience with a variety of teaching delivery methods, online resources, and technology applications across the curriculum.
- Evidence of a commitment to supporting or enhancing Montgomery College student success initiatives that further student retention and graduation (e.g., OER, advising).
- Must be able to work in a multicultural environment that reflects our student body and be sensitive to the educational needs of a culturally diverse population.
- Coaches/Mentors are expected to have access to a personal computer with virus protection that can connect to the internet outside of the work location (i.e., office, classroom, college campus).
- Successful candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment and must be willing to contribute to the Colleges strategic plan of inclusion.
- Faculty members are expected to have access to a personal computer with virus protection that can connect to the internet outside of the work location (i.e., office, classroom, college campus)*. Montgomery College (MC) provides an MC e-mail account and access to the learning platform, password-protected faculty sections of the website, college listservs, and other faculty communications tools. *If you do not have access to a personal computer, please notify the department chair at the time of interview. Subject to available funds, the college may be able to provide temporary access to resources.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without a sponsor.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Education with a concentration in Early Childhood Education.
- Experience teaching online.
- Evidence of a commitment to ethics, social justice, diversity, and inclusion.
- Evidence of participation in institutionally supported academic support initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience with various teaching modalities/formats (e.g., campus-based, blended/hybrid, virtual live-online synchronous, and distance learning).
- Experience using pedagogic technologies.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development.
