Position Summary
Tutor and assist students in academic studies.
Reports to
Assistant Vice President of Student AffairsEssential Functions and Responsibilities
· Tutor students
· Analyze student needs
· Answer student questions and clarify areas of concern
· Guide student development
· Assist in maintaining a clean and safe laboratory learning environment
· Ensure that all equipment and models are returned to their appropriate areas
· Notify appropriate personnel of missing or broken items
· Report safety incidents to appropriate personnel immediately
· Perform other related duties as assigned
· Reliable internet access from home and a quiet place that you can tutor from remotely as needed
Required Education
Associate's Degree or higher from a regionally accredited institutionOther Required Qualifications
· Associate’s Degree or above from a regionally accredited institution in the content area (or closely related field) being tutored
· Commitment to the mission of the community college, and to teaching and motivating community college students in ways appropriate to their diverse backgrounds and learning styles
Desired Qualifications
· One year prior tutoring experience
Skills and Specifications
· Strong content knowledge of biology laboratory
· Ability to follow biology laboratory training procedures and safety protocol for tutors
· Ability to work under pressure
· Good judgment skills
· Communicates and listens well
· Strong interpersonal skills
· Adaptive to different academic levels and needs
· Open and encouraging, yet appropriately assertive
· Ability to share creative examples for students
· Punctual and dependable
· Takes directions well, but also offers ideas
· Works well with other staff members

· Available day and/or evening hours
· Available to tutor on campus or remotely
· Assume additional duties as assigned by immediate supervisor
