We are seeking a synthetic chemist to contribute to tasks or projects that require a multi-disciplinary approach. At APL you will join a hardworking and dedicated team of scientists who collaborate toward fulfilling our sponsors needs using your talents and skillsets. As a member of our team, you will work with physicists, engineers, analytical chemists and biologists to tackle our sponsor's most important problems.

As an Associate Chemist...

  • Your primary responsibility will be to conduct research and support efforts that contribute to our government sponsor 's goals.
  • You will use your skills in organic, analytical, and experimental chemistry to advance science toward the cutting edge in your field.
  • You will work with a diverse team that includes scientists of all backgrounds.
  • You will propose your own work and explore new technologies using the many resources available to you at APL!

Qualifications

You will meet our minimum requirements if you...

  • Have a B.S. or B.A. in chemistry, materials science, or a related field.
  • Have 2+ years of experience working with small molecule synthesis, purification, and analysis.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work with other scientists and connect with the broader scientific community.
  • Can demonstrate that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. To ensure the safety and well-being of the community, APL has established a policy requiring that all staff be vaccinated against COVID-19. All staff members must provide proof of full vaccination or have an approved medical or religious accommodation by their start date.
  • Are able to obtain a Secret level security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

You 'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...

  • Have a M.S. degree in a chemistry related field.
  • Have experience with synthetic scale up (pilot or process scale).
  • Have experience with DOD CBRNE research applications
