Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Director, Pathways, Recruitment and Transfer Access (PRTA) will strategically oversee the development and on-going management of new initiatives including Pathways for students K-Jobs, the Achieving Collegiate Excellence and Success (ACES) operations, and the expansion of the Universities at Shady Grove (USG) recruitment efforts.

The Director will lead and deploy a large team supporting the planning and execution of programs, activities, and processes designed to create student pathway programming within USG’s industry clusters and hubs (STEM, Life Sciences and Health, Public Service, and Business). The Director will develop short-term and long-term strategies for operational success, and to ensure the best possible career-ready focused outcomes for students.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
Master’s degree from an accredited college or university required.

Experience:
10 years in higher education administration, student services or student affairs in a college or university environment creating, planning, or implementing stakeholder programming, 5 years of which must be in a managerial capacity required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to manage a fast-paced, complex multi-institutional student services environment effectively and efficiently.
  • Ability to work with a variety of constituencies including USM institutions, community colleges and professional and community organizations in the USG service region.
  • Interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Skills in database development and management.
  • Ability to work with diverse individuals on a variety of issues and to support an inclusive environment; ability to counsel, mediate, and facilitate in diverse communities.

Preferences:

Preferences:
  • Master’s degree with an emphasis on higher education, student affairs, workforce development, business management, or human resources preferred.
  • Previous experience with program performance measurement tools.

Physical Demands

Regional travel to partner institutions, employer sites, workforce and community events, and other meetings required. Limited travel to regional and national conferences is also required. Ability to work some evening and occasional Saturday hours also required.
