Summary of Job Duties:

Postdoctoral fellow position is available for fully funded exciting comprehensive research projects to understand cellular and molecular mechanisms of cardiovascular, renal, and metabolic diseases and developing therapeutic strategies. Researchers in the collaborative environment are engaged in the development and testing of drugs to treat cardiovascular, kidney, and metabolic diseases. The Postdoctoral Fellow will conduct cutting-edge research that includes animal phenotyping, 3-D and organoid cell culturing, drug design, and omics techniques. Under general direction of the PI, the Postdoctoral Fellow will independently perform studies to advance the goals of the sponsored research projects. They will perform experiments, analyze data and compile results and monitor quality control processes to ensure research integrity. The Postdoctoral Fellow will receive advanced training to enhance professional skills and research independence needed for pursuit of a career. Successful applicants will be paid with NIH/University guideline-based salary plus health and retirement benefits and become a member of a highly motivated collaborative research team.

Qualifications:

  • PhD or other terminal degree in Biomedical Sciences or related field

  • Job requires a willingness to adjust hours according to the needs of particular experiments and ability to use independent judgment.

  • Knowledge of experimental design and scientific approaches and methodologies.

  • Expertise with several of the following techniques: cell culture, animal cardiovascular, renal, and metabolic phenotyping, omics assays, Western blot, flow cytometry, ELISA assays, histology and IHC, spectrophotometry, and RT-PCR.

  • Ability to read, understand, follow and enforce safety procedures. 

  • Ability to design, organize, and coordinate scientific research projects.

  • Applicant must exhibit attention to detail, think critically, and demonstrate initiative.


Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Develops and executes complex research methodologies and procedures. Perform research projects under the direction of the PI, using physiological, biochemical, molecular biological, and histological techniques. 

  • Oversees the work of laboratory personnel including training and development as well as daily work direction/delegation/prioritizing.

  • Participates in the preparation of research grants and submit postdoctoral training fellowships/grants.

  • Manages analytical tools, including maintaining equipment, perform/supervise repairs, order supplies, negotiate with vendors, track purchase orders, update computer hardware and software.

  • Participates in and assist with the organization of meetings with PIs and research staff to evaluate/interpret the validity of experimental data.

  • Participates in career development training seminars, classes, and workshops.

  • Maintains laboratory compliance with animal, biological, chemical, and radiation regulations.

  • Assists in training of research technologists, students, and residents.

  • Other duties as assigned.
